About Youth Development Consortium (YDC)

Youth Development Consortium – (an Entrepreneurs Council of India Initiative) is a national body dedicated towards creating a platform to advocate and promote Entrepreneurial Spirit (ES) through related leadership training for young people, advancing positive youth development, receive high quality services, supports and opportunities that foster their assets, build healthy community connections, and strengthen their skills and competencies

YDC is taking a positive development approach for working with the next generation of leaders, and developing materials to prepare them for the transition to adulthood, and leadership, Training programs and activities that we organize include the Entrepreneurs' Challenge (E-Challenge) and the Entrepreneurial Workshop (EWS) and several Brain Storming Sessions to generate ideas for Youth Development and empowerment.


Vision:

YDC strives to organize and recognize youth groups/organizations by connecting them with Socio - Economic opportunities available at national or international level, through workshops, seminars, culturals and contests. Our primary goal is to provide youngsters a platform to express their talents across various fields and provide them with necessary resources to nurture it.


Mission:

  1. To empower 1 million youth in India
  2. To officiate the process of talent development through a rigorous L&D methodology.
  3. To conduct a simultaneous program for students across 100 colleges in India.
  4. To bring out a minimum of 100 high performing talents of multiple disciplines.
  5. To lay the foundation for future programs and activity with a focus of building an economically, socially and environmentally strong India by 2020.
  6. To witness youth participation in International arena.

Objective:

The general objective of the organization is to organize and recognize youth groups/organizations by connecting them with Socio - Economic opportunities available National or International wise and specifically.

The objectives of YDC

1. Youth Leadership

Youth leadership is part of the youth development process and supports the young person in developing: (a) the ability to analyse his or her own strengths and weaknesses, set personal and vocational goals, and have the self-esteem, confidence, motivation, and abilities to carry them out including the ability to establish support networks in order to fully participate in community life and effect positive social change; and (b) the ability to guide or direct others on a course of action, influence the opinions and behaviour of others, and serve as a role model

Well-designed and well-run youth development programs promote youth leadership by involving youth in needs assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. A growing number of organizations include youth on their boards of directors. Effective programs engage all participating youth in constructive action through activities such as service learning, arts, and athletics; and emphasize common values such as friendship, citizenship, and learning.

2. Networking and Communication

YDC serves as a platform to connect globally and help an individual to build his Networking and Communication Skills. Network marketing gives people the opportunity, with very low risk and very low financial commitment, to build their own income-generating asset and acquire great wealth. The secret to growing your network marketing is to help other people, teach them how to do the business for them to do the same with others It provides youth to expand his business connections and avail the Economic opportunities available at a National or International level.

3. Career Development

Career development is the on-going process of managing your life, learning and work. YDC aims at serving as a backbone for career development and goal setting for the youths in our country. It involves developing the skills and knowledge that enable you to plan and make informed decisions about your education, training and career choices.

The challenge before the nation is to develop and empower its huge youth population as productive work force This would involve providing to the youth the right education, necessary skills to make them employable, to develop them as entrepreneurs, to make them healthy individuals, to inculcate right social and moral values.

4. Youth Empowerment

Youth empowerment programs are aimed at creating healthier and higher qualities of life for underprivileged or at-risk youth. The five competencies of a healthy youth are: (1) positive sense of self, (2) self- control, (3) decision-making skills, (4) a moral system of belief, and (5) pro-social connectedness. Developmental interventions and programs have to be anchored on these competencies that define positive outcomes

5. Positive Youth Development (PYD)

YDC also focuses on Positive youth development (PYD). It refers to intentional efforts of other youth, adults, communities, government agencies and schools to provide opportunities for youth to enhance their interests, skills, and abilities. PYD favours leadership and skill-building opportunities under proper guidance. It looks at youth as assets to be developed and gives them the means to build successful futures.


Focuses on YDC:

  1. Focus on strengths and positive outcomes.
  2. Youth voice and engagement. Youth are valued partners who have meaningful, decision-making roles in programs and communities.
  3. Community involvement and collaboration. Positive youth development includes but reaches beyond programs; it promotes organizational change and collaboration for community change. All sectors have a role to play in making the community a great place to grow up.
  4. Long-term commitment. Communities provide the ongoing, developmentally appropriate support young people need over the first 20 years of their lives.
  5. To teach knowledge and life skills which enhance quality of life
  6. Mature the knowledgebase of individuals and leadership. Leadership will in turn increase Self Efficacy and interpersonal skills that supports success in workplace.
  7. Helping youth to build leadership skills. Even for those not aiming for leadership it helps in gaining skills like goal setting, problem solving, mediation, stress management, interpersonal communication and critical thinking.
  8. Integrating youth development into youth serving providing leadership opportunities, assessment of youth involvement and civic engagement in service.
  9. Information resource for Positive Youth Development.
  10. Helping the youth on nourishing the communication skills and helping them engaging within their communities, peer groups and opportunity to foster on their core competencies.

Plan of Action:

  1. Organising and conducting International multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary workshops and seminars.
  2. Involving youngsters to participate in activities in a wide range to their age and stage of development.
  3. To participate in National and Trans-National initiatives focused on promoting youth empowerment.
  4. To conduct researches on Innovations and Inventions for youngsters.
  5. To conduct Youth Cultural Fest to showcase their talent.
  6. To conduct contest on theme of Society, Environment and Economy.
  7. To position YDC as a pioneer in nation building and empowerment of the youth.
  8. To create a value chain among the stakeholders to catalyse the movement.
